Plans and Pricing
The first thing you need to do is go to the ExpressVPN website and click “Get expressVPN”. This will take you to the plans and pricing page, where you will need to choose the plan that best suits your needs. In this case, the only difference between the plan is the length of the subscription and the price per month. Purchasing a yearly subscription will give you the best price per month. Next, enter your email address and complete the checkout process. You will get an email verifying your payment with some useful links to get started. The next thing you’ll see is a password set-up screen. ExpressVPN will suggest an automatic password, but you can also set your own password if you prefer. You can create highly secure password using this tool. The last step before installation is really important and is relatively easy to miss, so pay attention. On the screen you will see an activation code, which you need to copy and safeguard for later. After that, simply click download for your prefered version of the app, depending on which device and operating system you are using. For this demonstration, we will follow the “windows 7,8 and later” installation process.
Installation process
After the download is complete, open the setup wizard and follow the instructions: Click install, Next etc. While following the installation process, another setup wizard was opened, which was slightly confusing. However, no action was required on my side, and both processes just finished by themselves.
Configuration
Once the installation is done, ExpressVPN will automatically open on your computer and ask for your activation code. Hopefully you’ve safeguarded it earlier on, but if not, you can always get a new one by following the link. Enter your code in the textbox and click “OK”. Next, ExpressVPN will suggest a recommended server for you to use. Clicking “connect” will take you to that server, or alternatively, clicking “select another Location” will show you a list of alternative servers to choose from:
If you want to connect an additional device, such as a smartphone or tablet, now would be a good time to do it by clicking “Get started” at the bottom of the ExpressVPN window. Since this guide is for Windows users, we will not go into detail on how to do that right now.
